(Clarksdale, Miss.) 鈥 榴莲视频 collaborated with AT&T Mississippi and Digitunity on Wednesday, April 29, to distribute free laptops to students and residents during a launch event at Safe House, working to close the regional digital divide.

The distribution program targets technology gaps across the college鈥檚 five-county service area, which includes Bolivar, Coahoma, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica counties. According to the U.S. Census Bureau鈥檚 American Community Survey, nearly 20% of Mississippi households lack a computer at home.

In the rural Mississippi Delta, device access rates are frequently lower, creating significant barriers to remote education and workforce development.

During the event, participants received their devices and assistance with initial setup. The distribution supports ongoing institutional efforts to ensure students and families have the technology required to complete coursework, apply for jobs, and navigate an increasingly digital landscape.

鈥淎T&T is proud to collaborate with 榴莲视频 to help level the playing field for local students,鈥 said Mike Walker, vice president of AT&T Mississippi. 鈥淐onnectivity is vital for students, and we鈥檙e glad we can provide these resources to those who need them most.鈥

The initiative provides critical hardware that empowers recipients to pursue academic and professional advancement without the limitations of device scarcity.

鈥淒igitunity is honored to collaborate with [collaborators] like Coahoma Community College and AT&T who understand that computer ownership isn't just about technology 鈥 it's about opening doors and expanding what's possible for students and their communities,鈥 said Scot Henley, executive director of Digitunity. 鈥淐oahoma is leading the way in ensuring Mississippi students have the laptops they need to succeed in their education and careers. Your commitment to removing barriers and creating opportunity is making a real difference for students and families across the Delta.鈥
